Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons, especially days when it is cool enough that bugs are mostly gone and I can comfortably wear sweaters and corduroy slacks.
I took this photograph the other day of a beautiful maple tree in front of the library where I work, and every time I look at it, I enjoy its vibrant color all over again. There is something about overcast, sometimes rainy Fall days that makes colored leaves look luminous and otherworldly. Often as I’m driving around, when I see a particularly beautiful tree with striking Fall foliage, I wish I could stop right there in the middle of the road to enjoy it, to just drink in the beauty before me. Thank you, God.
A downside to Fall is the decreasing hours of daylight, although one advantage it has over Spring is that we get an extra hour of sleep for Daylight Savings Time. Another downside is the amount of dead leaves that clog up our gutters. Soon, I will have to scramble around on our roof to get them cleaned out for the umpteenth time, and I’m not looking forward to that.
