Goodbye, HoneyRock

Last night was our final night in our cabin at HoneyRock. Weather permitting, we will drive back home today after a week spent here with family. We lit a fire in the fireplace and the kids stayed up late to enjoy it.

At the moment, it is very quiet and still with snow gently falling. Just before dawn, a pair of hunting coyotes made an appearance close to the cabin.

I am a little concerned about driving conditions today since it snowed and rained and then snowed again in the past 24 hours, and the roads are covered with ice.

Overall, it’s been a nice time, but I’m looking forward to being home again. I am thankful for the many opportunities for rest here, and enjoyed going to see Mary Poppins Returns in the theater in Rhinelander, followed by a nice meal at a Mexican restaurant across the street. Yesterday afternoon, we watched the original Mary Poppins on DVD and last night, we also watched Dunkirk, which I’ve been wanting to see for a long time. A good movie. We didn’t do as many outdoor activities (e.g. sledding or cross country skiing) as we’d hoped, but oh well.

Below is a short video montage of photos from the past week. In addition to photos taken here at HoneyRock, there are some photos taken while visiting Michele’s grandma and uncle the day before yesterday.
